PROBLEM
What is the next generation digital NameCard?
Namecard, as a way of exchanging personal and business information, has been used for hundreds of years. However, with the widespread usage of social media, the physical form of name card no longer being an efficient and effective way to exchange those digital information. And that is why we need a new generation of digital namecard.

USER INTERVIEW
"Privacy" "Efficiency"
are the issues that most of the users care about when they establish a new contact with multiple social media apps.
Throughout all the 30 interviews, “Privacy” issue was raised 39 times; “efficiency” issue was mentioned 36 times; “effectivity” issue was talked 31 times.
STRATEGY
How might we ...
Based on the summary of user interviews, we have developed four strategies (2 under privacy and 2 under Efficiency) to solve users' pain point.

DESIGN
How might we provide user a buffer zone in social activities to share the right level of privacy?
Empower users to craft personalized name cards, sharing only the information they deem fit. A touch of elegance, a stride towards privacy.
What and how information would be shown on name card?
We list the information that will be shown on the name card group them into four categories. Social Card category is most essential because that is the main ways people connect to each other nowadays.
People would have different nicknames and avatars in social media apps, which makes it hard to relate those accounts in apps to the one in reality. The digital name card would help users to make those connections.
Iteration 01
Layout the social cards in a linear order, for better readability and utilization of full length to show information.
Iteration 02
Use grid view to show information and add corresponding profile photos. The more square buttons help reduce the fat finger errors.
Iteration 02 wins the game because profile photos could help user connect the person with his accounts. Also, more square buttons help reduce the fat finger errors.
How do Social
Cards work?
The hyper button make connection easy by jumping to the corresponding app. In case of the jump does not work. It also copy the information to clipboard, for quickly paste.
DESIGN
How might we
enable users to show different faces to different circles?
We provide different cards for different circles/scenario. People have different roles in society. He could be a father, a boss, a friend, and a teammate at the same time. Thus users need to show different faces to different groups of people, and we create multiple name cards to help users achieve that. So there will be an interface that shows all user’s name cards before he selects one and shares with others. The question here is how do we show multiple name cards on the same page without blocking or losing necessary information.
Iteration 02
We put important information on top, so that when we half-stack cards on top of each other, users could still get the necessary information from it.
Iteration 03
We enlarge the proportion of images on the card because images could convey information about one’s characteristics faster and more intuitive than text.
Comparing both options, we decided to develop the design with iteration 03 for two reasons:

Iteration 03 has a larger proportion of images, which will reduce the user’s cognitive burden.

When showing multiple cards on the same page, separated small cards in iteration 03 is more legible than stacking cards in iteration 02

How might we
Successfully exchange information under different condition?
We utilize Bluetooth. As we are focusing on the scenario of face to face name card exchange, Bluetooth allows users to search and share information to multiple devices within 10m range. What’s more, users can decide whether to accept or decline exchange information with certain person, which would protect users’ privacy.
